"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young. Be an example to all believers, in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith and your purity."1 Timothy 4:12

Curriculum and Policies

We teach RE through the ‘Understanding Christianity‘ and 'Discover RE’ curriculums.

We follow the Cornwall Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education, 60% of curriculum time is devoted to Christianity and 40% is devoted to other key religions in Britain.

At Key Stage One we learn about Judaism and Islam, whilst at Key Stage Two we learn about Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and other World Faiths throughout both Key Stages.

In Key Stage One, children receive 36 hours of RE teaching throughout the year and in Key Stage Two children receive 45 hours of RE. RE teaching is mostly delivered weekly but some units (particularly thematic units) are delivered in longer sessions or project days. Children also participate in trips and experiences such as visits to the Cathedral.

We visit many local churches in the course of our studies e.g. Kenwyn Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church and of course Truro Cathedral.  We often use Kenwyn Church as a resource in other areas of the curriculum too.  Kenwyn and The Methodist Church run themed reflection areas to visit at key points within the Christian Calendar, giving children the opportunity to experience spirituality in a different context.  We are privileged to have these resources on our doorstep and use them to support learning whenever we can.
